The Domaine Alain Michelot Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes displays all the richness garnered from 45 year old vines. Powerful, aromatic and with wonderful texture this wine offers complex flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and smoke leading on to a long, elegant and flavoursome finish.
The focal point of the Côte de Nuits (albeit at its southern end), Nuits-Saint-Georges boasts no grands crus yet maintains a stolid reputations for its premier cru wines. Nuits-Saint-Georges, which gives its name to the Côte de Nuits ("the Nuits hillside") of the northern Côte d'Or, is a sizeable town and something of a winemaking hub in the heartland of Burgundy. As wine region, or appellation, Nuits-Saint-Georges is known for relatively powerful, complex red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. This represents 97 percent of production, with a small amount of white wine made from Chardonnay.
